Contemplate each of the Sorrowful Mysteries. Follow each meditation by One - Our Father, Three - Hail Mary’s, One - Glory Be First Sorrowful Mystery—Agony of Jesus in the Garden: Jesus prayed that His Father’s will be done. We pray that those who have devoted their lives to service of the Church will find comfort and strength in prayer. Second Sorrowful Mystery—Scourging at the Pillar: The crowd shouted, “Crucify Him.” May the example of all those who have died for the sake of the Gospel inspire us to grow in faith and love. Third Sorrowful Mystery—Crowning with Thorns: Jesus was mocked and beaten. We pray that we will not lose hope or courage in difficult times. Fourth Sorrowful Mystery—Carrying of the Cross: Simon of Cyrene was pressed into carrying the cross. We pray that God will give us the grace to willingly help those in need. Fifth Sorrowful Mystery—Crucifixion and Death: On the cross, Jesus entrusted his mother and the disciple he loved to each other’s care. May those discerning their vocations turn to Mary for help and guidance. Contemplate each of the Glorious Mysteries. Follow each meditation by One - Our Father, Three - Hail Mary’s, One - Glory Be First Glorious Mystery—Resurrection of Jesus: Jesus was sent by His Father. He, in turn, commissioned His disciples to go forth. Let us pray for those called to serve as priests, deacons, religious sisters and brothers, and lay ministers. Second Glorious Mystery—Ascension of Jesus into Heaven. We pray that the Holy Spirit, who remains with us here, may empower each of us to be witnesses to Christ in our vocations, whether we are called to ordained or religious life, marriage and family, or life as a single layperson. Third Glorious Mystery—Coming of the Holy Spirit: On Pentecost, people heard the disciples speaking in different tongues. We pray for all Church leaders, that they may turn people’s hearts to the Lord through their ministries. |
