Vocations Director

Father Jim Lobacz was born and raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin where he graduated from Saint Thomas Grade School and Saint Joseph High School. All of his studies for the priesthood took place in Milwaukee at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary College and Saint Francis Major Seminary culminating with his ordination in June of 1979.

As a priest of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee he has served as a parish priest on Milwaukee’s south side, a high school chaplain in Burlington, the vice-rector of Saint John Cathedral, assisting priest for Holy Name of Jesus in Wilmot, and a campus minister for Cardinal Stritch University.

Father Lobacz holds a Bachelors Degree in Theology, a Masters Degree in Divinity, a Masters Degree in Education and a Doctor of Ministry Degree.

Within the Archdiocese, Father Lobacz has served on a variety of committees and commissions in the areas of education, catechetics, youth ministry, young adult ministry, and seminary recruitment. He has held leadership offices on a national level with the Catholic Campus Ministry Association and the National Catholic Student Coalition.

For the twelve years prior to his position as Vocation Director, Father Lobacz has served as the campus priest at Cardinal Stritch University where he was responsible for sacramental life and pastoral counseling. He functioned as the director of the Franciscan Mission Office that promotes the Catholic and Franciscan identity of the University.

On July 1, 2005 Father Lobacz assumed the responsibilities of the director of the Vocations Office of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. He is no stranger to his alma mater, Saint Francis Seminary, since in the past he has served on the Saint Francis Seminary College Admission Board, taught preaching in the certificate division, and offered spiritual direction to various seminarians.

While full-time ministry takes up a lot of his time and energy Father Lobacz enjoys several hobbies including: travel, photography, cooking and mystery fiction.
