Elements of an Ordination

The celebration of ordination to the priesthood is composed of three parts:

  • The first part comprises the liturgy of the Word, during which God's Word is proclaimed and explained.
  • In the second, we participate in the ordinarion to the priesthood.
  • The third part of this liturgy is the Eucharist, in which praise and thanksgiving are offered over bread and wine in remembrance of Jesus. We then eat and drink the consecrated bread and wine, the true body and blood of the Lord, our communion in Christ Jesus and each other.
