Involvement

As a Catholic, I care about vocations ...

You are called to holiness, but how do you live a holy life? Jesus, the original “vocation director,” taught us by His example of prayer and action.

Please pray for vocations. Pray at the dinner table. Pray at Mass. Pray while you’re stirring the pasta cooking on the stove or waiting for the gas tank to fill. Pray especially for young people as they navigate the career and life choices open to them. Take action that fits your style:

  • Volunteer your time to a parish vocations team, the Vocations Office, or Saint Francis Seminary. We have volunteers in areas ranging from marketing advice to stuffing envelopes. (If your parish doesn’t have a vocations team, the Vocations Office will help you get one started.)
  • Consider a donation to the Vocations Office. A survey of diocesan priests ordained nationwide in 2003 showed that vocation awareness initiatives are important. For example, 49% said pamphlets were instrumental for them, and 30% said advertisements were instrumental. Your donation will help the Vocations Office produce up-to-date, effective print and multi-media materials.
  • Donate to Saint Francis Seminary, center for ministerial formation for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Your donation will help the seminary provide spiritual, academic, and pastoral preparation for our future Church leaders.
  • The Vocations Office often works with men called to priesthood who lack financial resources. Help seminarians with books and other costs by donating to the Needy Seminarian Fund or the Hispanic Seminarian Fund.

If you need vocations prayer cards, want to volunteer, or if you can help with a donation, contact:

Prayer Intentions at Mass

Has your parish joined the growing roster of faith communities praying for vocations the first weekend of every month? Here are prayer intentions to use at Mass.

  • For God’s blessings as we seek to live holy lives within our families and our school community, we pray;
  • For deacons, whose ministry includes outreach to those suffering from poverty and injustice, we pray;
  • For all who are getting ready to serve as future priests, deacons, and religious sisters or brothers, we pray.
