Describe yourself:

I am just a man from West Bend, striving for sainthood. Here to conform my life to the Cross of Christ, trying to save as many souls in the meantime.

Tell us your vocation story:

I never thought that I would be called to seminary to discern the priesthood, but the Lord works in mysterious ways. At the end of my eighth grade year, a question out of nowhere came into my mind, “What will get you further in life, happiness or money?” And I remember Fr. Luke coming in to talk to my middle school about how the priesthood is statistically one of the most fulfilling and joy filled occupations. This stuck with me as I investigated further what it meant to be a priest. I saw the authentic joy in my pastor as well as priests in my community, and I knew that this is something worthy of further discernment. There is joy that comes when we follow the will of the Lord. When we give our whole lives to Him, He gives His whole self back to us filling us with a great joy. By following His will for me is the cause of my joy.

What is the greatest challenge facing a man considering the seminary?

I think a challenge shared by many is the fear of judgement. Being judged by family, friends, and society. In this modern day, people are not always receptive to the priesthood and the church. I do not recall where I heard this quote from, but I stick to it often. “I can stand with God and be judged by society, or stand with society and be judged by God.” The Lord is calling us out of the boat to be with Him. He is calling us away from a life of comfortability, away of ourself to follow Him. We will never be truly happy until we follow the Lord’s will for us.

What is your favorite psalm verse and why?

“My soul rests in God alone, from whom comes my salvation. God alone is my rock and salvation, my fortress; I shall never fall.”(Ps. 62:1-3, NAB) This Psalm keeps me grounded in faith and in God, that with Him I am complete..

What are your favorite activities outside of the seminary?

I enjoy being with family and friends. Making memories that will last a lifetime.

Where do you like to go to pray?

I love to go and pray in the chapel when no one else is in there. I can just have an intimate one-on-one conversation with our Lord, and be alone with him.

Where do you do your best studying?

I study best in my dorm room. Play some quiet music and study away!

Which saint should people ask to intercede for your vocation?

St. Philip Neri has played a significant part in my discernment, he is a great saint to pray for me.
